Don't let the title deceive you: I can bake. I love to bake. But at this current weight, I can't bake because I will eat what I bake. My waistline can't really afford that...
I CAN cook, but I can only cook about 10 things. I can make those ten things REALLY well. But most of those are heavy in dairy and Daniel is lactose intolerant. I don't want him dying every time I make dinner.
I want to learn to cook a lot of things that Daniel will like so I can be a good wife and have good meals waiting for him when he gets home from work.
So, I asked my professional chef awesome friend Jana to give me lessons.
(She made the cupcakes for my wedding. Root-beer cupcakes? HELLO. So good.)
Today was my first lesson.
On the menu? Parmesan Chicken, Chive & Sour Cream Mashed Potatoes, & Garlic Green Beans
I wasn't overwhelmed by the recipe or the ingredients. I was super happy with the whole process. I never felt like I couldn't do it (outside of the tasting for the potatoes.) I learned a lot and Jana was the PERFECT teacher. (We talked about babies and poop. Good times.)
|Isn't it pretty! I made this!|
Most importantly it tasted GREAT. The chicken was tender and delicious. The potatoes were chunky and perfect. I know Daniel will love it and I can't wait to make it for him!
I can't wait for the next lesson.
